Sept.1, 2:00 PM--CIW in Orlando for Labor Day Publix Demonstration

Kindra Muntz - Sunday, August 25, 2013

Farmworkers will be joining their consumers allies in a peaceful demonstration in Orlando to call on Publix to join the Fair Food Program the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1st at 2pm at the Lake Eola Publix.

If you would be so kind as to consider sharing this announcement - feel free to use the below blurb - in your congregation's announcements, bulletin or announcing it at relevant meetings and otherwise broadly sharing the word -- we'd be grateful!

On the heels of their selection for the Franklin D. and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute's prestigious 2013 Four Freedoms Medal, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers are inviting supporters to join them on Labor Day weekend in calling for justice for Florida's tomato pickers.

Accompany farmworkers and their families for a peaceful picket imploring Publix's participation in the CIW's Fair Food Program -- recently praised by the White House as "one of the most successful and innovative programs" nationally to combat human trafficking -- on Sun., Sept. 1st at 2 PM at the Lake Eola Publix in Orlando (400 E Central Blvd.).

I look forward to hopefully seeing you there!

Thanks, and take care,
